Good morning and happy Monday! How was your weekend? Mine was certainly marvelous, and a great change of pace from the usual. That’s because I made a quick visit to South Carolina to see my brother, where I met up with my mom, dad, sister, and her boyfriend. It also happened to be my brother’s and mom’s birthday weekend, so I couldn’t have imagined a better occasion for a family reunion! It’s amazing how rare family time has become since my siblings and I have gotten older and all moved away from home! I’ve learned to cherish those precious times, like this weekend, when we’re all able to be together.
Here are some snapshots from my weekend in South Carolina:
My family and I spent a large part of Saturday walking around campus and exploring the area. It was a beautiful campus, boasting palm trees and warm, sunny weather. After spending some time on campus, I’m about ready to move in with my brother!
I attended my very first SEC college football game, and let me tell you, it was quite an impressive event! It puts any other football game I’ve seen to shame. From the tailgate to the game itself, it was an all-around great time full of spirited fun. Even better was that South Carolina beat Kentucky!
I enjoyed my first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season! I don’t care that it was 85 degrees outside. It’s October, and that’s all that matters. My college isn’t anywhere near a Starbucks, so when I travel, I have to seize the moment!
On my drive home, I saw a sign for Publix on the highway and just had to stop and explore. I’ve heard great things about this supermarket chain, and while I know it’s big in the Florida area, I did a double take when I saw it in South Carolina. My verdict? While I only did a quick run-through, it was quite an impressive store. The bakery looked incredible, and they carried a great variety of products, including an expansive natural foods section. Apparently they’ve also got a great deli. If you’re ever in the Southeastern US, I urge you to stop in!
Another bonus from the weekend? I came home from the weekend completed wiped out, but was pleasantly surprised to find samples of Quest’s new double chocolate chunk flavor waiting on my doorstep. Be on the lookout for a review over the next few days!
It was a fantastic weekend packed to the brim with family time that was long overdue. With a fun and relaxing weekend behind me, I’m ready to tackle the week! After my workout this morning, it’s off to class. Catch you all later!
Are you able to enjoy “family time” often?
